Marion Donaldson
Sales Manager, Universal Building Maintenance

Marion Donaldson is a native Phoenician. She is a proud Knight, graduating from St. Mary’s High School and ultimately went on to be a Sun Devil, graduating Cum Laude from ASU with a degree in Psychology and a degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences. Marion loves meeting new people and helping solve problems, so she worked with schizophrenic women right out of school but quickly realized this was not for her. Marion grew up around property management so she went to be an office assistant temporarily at a central Phoenix high rise, but she found the challenges and variety of issues requiring her skill set so rewarding that 8 years later she is still in the industry as a service provider in commercial real estate. Marion is excited to start as the first Sales Manager for Universal Building Maintenance in the valley in July 2010, as they have a great reputation and thriving service in Southern California and are newer to the Phoenix Market. She is active in BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association) of Greater Phoenix which she has been a member of for 7 years. In 2009, Marion Co-Founded the YPG of BOMA, which is the Young Professionals Group (40 and under) in an effort to cultivate new leadership and ensure the future of the organization and she was awarded the 2009 BOMA Committee Member of the Year Award. Marion believes the only way to keep life in balance is through always giving back to the community. She is very active in advocating and volunteering for Free Arts of AZ, which is a non-profit that the sparks the creativity and brings the arts to homeless and at risk children across the valley. Since the first event Marion volunteered at in 2000, Free Arts has been a priority in her life and she finds constant joy in the transformation of these children through the difference of art and mentoring. Marion is the proud recipient of the 2010 “Free to Express” Award, which recognizes an individual who volunteers her time to engage others with the mission of Free Arts and gives time to promote the organization through fundraising, special events and/or marketing. Marion spends her leisure time with her family and friends and relishes being an Auntie to 7 nieces and nephews. Music and the arts are Marion’s greatest passion and you can find her often singing and listening to music wherever possible, hanging in local record stores, galleries and coffee houses, and frequenting concert venues.

Ali Elliott

Originally from Southern California, Ali Elliott has spent the last 9 years of her life here in Arizona. Ali moved to Arizona to attend Arizona State University, and had so much fun, she never went home! During her college years, she was very involved in her Sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, which benefited the organization, “Court Appointed Special Advocates”. After receiving her degree from ASU in Business and Spanish, she ventured onto a career in sales. Ali is currently in Oral Healthcare, Medical Device sales and loves every minute of it. With her position at Dentsply, she has met numerous dynamic people in the dentistry arena and helped orchestrate some amazing oral reconstruction cases. She has also been able to travel quite often, including several trips across the pond. In addition to Ali’s professional success, she has been involved in many philanthropic endeavors including the honorable role of “wish granter” for the Make a Wish Foundation. When Ali isn’t working hard on her career goals or philanthropic aspirations, she spends a lot of her time outdoors. She likes to golf, cycle, and snowboard, water-ski and travel!

Sharon Gordon
Transportation Engineer, Federal Highway Administration

Motto--Have a sense of humor and keep things in perspective. I am a graduate of Southern Illinois University with my Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering. I serve as the Transportation Engineer for the Phoenix Metropolitan Area and Statewide Local Public Agency Coordinator with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). I am responsible for providing guidance to the state and the consultant industry concerning the Federal-Aid program. I am involved in a diverse array of Federal-aid program issues stemming from right-of-way, environment, design, funding, and safety. What I like best about the position that I hold is that I am leaving my mark on society, and the decisions that I make today will eventually improve the quality of life and the safety of the nation’s traveling public in the future. The experience that I am obtaining as an Honoree for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation cannot be taught. It is learned by seeing and experiencing the change that your efforts to get involved to help another person. Giving back and putting forth effort to enable someone to have a better quality of living is priceless and it helps me in becoming a more well-rounded person. Some student may not desire to go to college but this program will provide these students with information that will lead them to varying construction careers that will benefit their future. • Completed the FHWA Professional Development Program and earned my Engineering in Training License in 2004. • Served on the FHWA Interstate 50th anniversary subcommittee. CAREER DESIRES My career desires are to continue my FHWA career and eventually be promoted to Division Administrator. I also want to keep an active role within the lives of our youth, by empowering young girls and boys to get involved in science-based careers. I try to keep a positive attitude by allowing those to see me, a woman, within the field of engineering. In addition, I also volunteer in areas which will allow me to expose young adults to various jobs within a science-based field; this may give them the hope and the drive to be a part of developing new and innovative ideas.

David Johnson

Originally from Scarsdale, New York, David Johnson is a relatively new resident of the Valley. A die hard New York Yankees fan, David was somehow able to balance his sporting interests while attending school. In 2001, David received his B.A. in English from Southern Methodist University and his Juris Doctorate from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2004. Following this graduation, David moved to Kyiv, Ukraine where he practiced law for a small legal practice while taking in the sights of eastern Europe and being amazed by the pro-democratic Orange Revolution movement. Upon arriving back to the United States, in 2006 David received his Master of Laws in Environmental Law from Pace University School of law and practiced water law for a boutique firm just outside of New York City before finally moving to Phoenix in 2007 to practice in the field of comprehensive environmental regulation for Gallagher & Kennedy, P.A. David now practices law with two other partners in a boutique firm specializing in complex business, commercial, environmental, finance, gaming, regulatory and transactional matters. In addition to providing legal counsel to small business and corporate clients, David also holds the position of Director of Investigations and Regulatory Affairs for Lightstone Solutions, LLC, a multi-disciplinary litigation support and investigative firm. A published author of legal articles, David is also a current and former chair on a number of American Bar Association committees. But David’s professional success is matched by his involvement in the Phoenix community. David is a member of the Active 20/30 Club of Phoenix since 2008, a mentor to Eddie and Roberto through Phoenix Youth at Risk and has provided legal advice to indigent clients through the Volunteer Lawyer’s Program since he joined the Phoenix legal community. In his free time, David has three passions: reading - preferably material unrelated to his profession; cooking – the kitchen is where he spends most of his time while at home; and travel - recently a significant backpacking trip through Ireland, Spain, Portugal and Italy; next up is two weeks of canoeing the Upper Missouri river in Montana this summer.

Lisa Kasha
, National Council for Prescription Drug Programs

Originally hailing from Detroit, Michigan Lisa has spent the majority of her life in the Valley of the Sun. While studying to receive her degree from Arizona State University, she spent time working at the Walt Disney World Company before graduating from the W.P. Carey School of Business. Currently, she is the Marketing Coordinator for the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) where she is responsible for the marketing, public relations and overseeing of all social media to increase their visibility while promoting the work they're doing to help enhance healthcare in the future. In her personal life Lisa is extremely dedicated to her community and has specifically focused on charities for children. She currently is a part of Girls for a Change, where she serves as an Action Team Coach. As a coach she mentors teen girls about social change, leadership, self esteem, acceptance, and the importance of maintaining a positive attitude. Lisa is also a member of Valley of the Sun Active 20-30 club. Lisa enjoys going to concerts, sporting events, reading and spending time with her friends and family.

Jonathan Kaufman

A native Phoenician, Jon Kaufman has spent his entire life getting to know the cultural diversity of the community and the unique individuals that fill its streets and businesses. After receiving his B.A from The University of Arizona, Jon filled several rolls in the financial and technology sector that inevitably led him to his home at Zog Media and ZooLoo.com. As Vice President of Zog Media and ZooLoo.com, Jon oversees business development and client services and is responsible for the company's strategic relationships and operations. Prior to joining Zog Media, Jon was Founder and CEO of Category3 Media, an online digital solutions company providing database solutions for private aircraft brokers and product manager for tracking and analytics for Quespasa.com, one of the worlds largest Hispanic social networks. He has long been active in the Phoenix community serving on the Board of the YMCA and serving as an active member of Active 20/30 Scottsdale sitting on the NiteFlite Committee. Jon is also an active member of The Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations, The Phoenicians Committee of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, and The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Jon currently resides in Paradise Valley and enjoys heading into the mountains to golf or ski at his home in Showlow, Arizona. He spends his time free time in his greatest passion, aviation.

Zachary Kepes
President, ZAK Ventures LLC

Zachary Kepes was born in Huntington Woods, Michigan. He earned a B.S. Degree in both Entrepreneurship and Spanish from Indiana University. Following his studies, Zachary relocated to Atlanta Georgia where he worked for a Business to Business start-up. He then became one of the youngest hires in history to become a sales manager at a human capital consulting company. Having been socialized in an entrepreneurial environment by his father and grandfathers, who each started their own respective careers and companies, this was the ultimate career path for Zachary. Zachary traveled the world in 2002 and then relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona in August of that same year to begin his real estate career. Since then, Zachary has touched over 100,000,000 dollars worth of single family property transactions. To better acquaint those with his career, he refers to the popular television show “FLIP THIS HOUSE.” However, Zack stays out of the limelight and quietly buys, rehabs and ultimately sells an extremely high volume of homes…..one at a time. When not acquiring property, you can find Zachary swimming in Bartlett Lake, riding his bike along Pima or running the Pinnacle Peak trail head. This is all part of his regimented training schedule for IronMan triathlon competitions. Zachary also finds time for the local community. He participates in the Make-A-Wish foundation, the Jewish Federation, and his own foundation called “Miles Bring Smiles,” which benefits children born with cleft palates.

Kristin Landry
Pharmaceutical Sales Specialist, Reckitt Benckiser

A native of Houston, Texas, Kristin Landry has always been a spontaneous individual who lives life to the fullest. After a brief year at Boise State University, Kristin found herself moving to Arizona to continue her spontaneity and education. After a degree in Communication from Arizona State University. Kristin moved to Los Angeles, and joined E! Networks, where she worked in the Live Events department entertaining celebrities down the red carpet. Kristin then found herself relocating back to Arizona two years later where she joined Reckitt Benckiser. RB awarded Kristin the ability to work in an environment that allows freedom and the experience to develop work and personal relationships. In addition to Kristin’s professional successes, she has always been an active member in the community, and has been involved in numerous philanthropic endeavors. Kristin has been a member of the Active 20/30 Club of VOS since 2008, a past active of Alpha Chi Omega. Kristin spends majority of her time traveling to see family, friends or for pleasure. She continues to strive to be a better person in her community, work and relationships. Kristin enjoys the glamour in life and will continue to take many moment throughout her time to see it sparkle.

Ray LaStrape
Regional Vice President, Online Education Division, Corinthian Colleges, Inc.

Ray was born in Beaumont, Texas but grew up in Northern California. He is a respected and proven leader in for profit education and the military. He spends a great amount of his time supporting community service organizations assisting the disadvantaged in the Phoenix community. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He spent twenty-one years defending our great nation by serving in the United States Army supporting military operations around the world. After retiring from the military he became Director of Customer Service for the Western Region of Office Depot. The past four years he was General Manager and Regional Vice President of Operations for Everest College Phoenix Online in Tempe, AZ. He currently is Regional Vice President of new operations for the Online Division of Corinthian Colleges, Inc. managing their online education expansion goals. He is a life-member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and Vice President of their Phoenix Alumni Chapter. He has a passion for working with youth and currently sits on the Board of Directors for “The Arizona Guide Right Foundation” which is a non-profit mentorship organization that focuses on providing positive guidance to young adults. Ray is a member of the Black Board of Directors Project (BBODP) which is an advanced leadership program. After being introduced to “The New Foundation” in 2009 by the BBODP he became a member of their board of directors when he realized their mission was in direct alignment with his passion. Ray owes his success to many who took time out of their busy lives to reach back and pull him forward and he feels obligated to do the same. He enjoys spending time with family, reading, golfing and riding his Harley. Ray has a family member who suffers from Sickle Cell which is a genetic blood disease that fortunately a cure has been found. Ray strongly feels we can all work together by donating time and money to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis as well!

Mihir Patel
Hospital/Surgical Sales Representative , King Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Born in Bronx, NY and grew up between New York, Colorado, New Mexico, and now Arizona Mihir spent most of his years in Albuquerque, NM. Mihir attended a military academy in NM prior to moving to Arizona in 1994. Mihir has worked in the some form of the business end of medical throughout his career. Currently, Mihir has been with King Pharmaceuticals, Inc. for over five years. His job consists of marketing a product that is used in the operating room to stop bleeding. More importantly, he has taken the step to coordinate with hospitals on cost saving ideas when it comes to hemostatic products. In addition to Mihir’s professional successes, he has worked with a number of charities over the years. Cystic Fibrosis is a charity where he often volunteered ‘behind the scenes’ helping with set-up and planning over the past few years. Mihir has also worked with the boys and girls club by helping them with events and other charitable contributions.

Storey Pryor
Account Executive, Merestone Productions

Born in Sarasota, FL and raised in Overland Park, KS, Storey Pryor left the Land of Oz and paved her yellow brick road all the way to Arizona after graduating from the University of Kansas in May 2006. In her junior year of college, she trademarked the term “Hawkaholic”, to represent the ultimate KU fan. Shortly after, this trademark began selling on merchandise ranging from t-shirts to glassware. Because of its growth, Sportaholic, Inc. was then formed to manage trademarks to over 18 different schools and universities, as the brand continues to grow. With a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications, Pryor sought out a career that would incorporate her love for marketing and advertising, along with her passion for event planning. Breaking-through as an intern with Evening Entertainment Group, she helped market and promote events that were hosted at the Valley’s most elite venues and nightclubs. Simultaneously, she accepted a position as the sales and marketing intern for the University of Phoenix Stadium; deemed one of the top ten sporting facilities in the world by Business Week. The new home to the Arizona Cardinals (as well as the Fiesta Bowl) became the new home for Pryor as she was hired full-time after the Bowl Championship Series Bowl game in January 2007. She was part of a team that helped attract other headline events to the multi-purpose facility such as NCAA Sweet Sixteen, Kenny Chesney, Wrestlemania, USA vs. Mexico Soccer Match, Super Bowl XLII, and a plethora of Fortune 500 company corporate events. Before Super Bowl XLII she implemented “Supper Bowl” which was a six-month campaign over a series of events that helped raise money and food for the St. Mary’s Food Bank in Arizona. In her team’s marketing efforts, the stadium was honored with Event Site of the Year by Event Solutions Magazine, as well as being the #1 Meeting Venue in 2007 by the Phoenix Business Journal. Her involvement within the event industry, granted her the position of Director of Special Events for the International Special Events Society in the Arizona Chapter; which is comprised of the most prominent event professionals throughout the state. She was responsible for the chapter’s largest fundraising event, their annual gala, which part of the proceeds go to the SEARCH Foundation. A foundation dedicated to supporting event professionals in times of crisis. Further advancing her career within the event industry, she then joined the Merestone Productions team. For over 35 years, Merestone has served as one of the largest and most successful production companies of its kind in the Southwest. From fashion shows, corporate incentive trips to product launches, she serves as an Account Executive who helps bring in top Fortune 500 companies to its already extensive list of clients including US Airways, McDonalds, and Wells Fargo. Outside of the office, she is a “big sister” in the Big Brother Big Sister Organization, and is a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Pryor enjoys spending her free time cheering on the Kansas Jayhawks, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and of course – throwing theme parties.

Melissa Schmucker
Attorney, Ryley, Carlock & Applewhite

Melissa Schmucker is an attorney and shareholder with the law firm of Ryley, Carlock & Applewhite, where she has been practicing law for over 7 years. Melissa practices in the areas of real estate development, real estate and commercial lending, and loan workout and enforcement. Her experience includes representation of institutional lenders in $100 million-plus syndication loans and representation of a landlord in a $50 million office lease. More recently, Melissa has had extensive experience representing lenders in real estate loan restructurings and workouts and disposition of bank-owned properties. Melissa is a member of the New York State Bar, Illinois State Bar and Arizona State Bar. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Melissa relocated to Scottsdale in May 2002 after receiving her J.D. from Notre Dame Law School, where she served on the Journal of Legislation as Assistant Notes Editor. Melissa graduated with an A.B. degree in public policy studies from Duke University. While at Duke, Melissa co-founded a program implemented to battle childhood obesity in the Durham community, was a member of the Duke Chorale (with which she toured and performed throughout China, New York, North Carolina and elsewhere), joined Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, and served on the board of the Panhellenic Association. Melissa spent a summer during college working as a policy and budget analyst at the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C. Melissa has been helping the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation since high school, when she planned a Great Strides Walk in her community, and she just served on the executive committee for the second-annual Breath of Life Gala. Melissa has also combined her love of golf and passion for volunteerism by working with Junior Achievement to plan its Women’s Golf Classic and with Arizona Commercial Real Estate Women to plan its golf tournament to benefit Phoenix Rescue Mission. During Melissa’s free time, she enjoys traveling (she’s currently planning her first trip to Italy), taking guitar lessons, playing with Madeline (her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) and, of course, cheering for the Blue Devils and Fighting Irish.

Amber Julie Schoenberger

Amber Julie Schoenberger, originally from northern California, is an eight year resident of Tempe. A graduate of Arizona State University, Amber received dual degrees in both Psychology and Mass Communications, along with an emphasis in Music. Since moving to Arizona, Amber has held a number of roles focusing on community outreach and non-profit development. Previous roles have included working at the corporate offices of the Arizona Cardinals and then Maxim Semiconductor; she also spent several years managing the non-profit portfolio for Arizona’s Social Venture Partners, which provides strategic grants and investments to a range of non-profit institutions in the greater Phoenix area. Following one of her passions she enjoyed a 5 year stint on Ch. 3's Good Morning Arizona as "Crafty Lady" where she did live television segments. She currently works as a development associate at Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation, the fund-raising and development arm for one of the region’s premier medical center networks. In addition to her work, Amber remains involved with a number of other philanthropic activities, including serving on the board of the Ronald McDonald House in Phoenix, as president elect of the Tomorrow’s Leaders organization, serving her first year on the board of Arizona's oldest non profit, Phoenix Day and as a member of the Joe Foss Institute. On Sunday's she is blessed to be a part of leading worship at her church by playing the piano and singing at Arizona Community Church. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two pups Coda and Holter, hiking, playing the piano, crafting, gourmet cooking, traveling, and wakeboarding.

Jathan Segur is National Bank of Arizona’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He also serves as the Chairman of the NB|AZ Nonprofit Advisory Board and founded the NonprofitsMatter banking division. EXPERIENCE Since joining National Bank of Arizona in 2005, Mr. Segur has quickly risen through the ranks and has held multiple positions including Regional Sales Manager and Director of Business and Specialty Banking. In his current role, Mr. Segur creates, executes and monitors sales, marketing and public relation strategies. Additionally, he develops policies for the bank's corporate giving program. Justin Timmons

Born in upstate New York in August of 1973, and having lived in MT, IN and PA, Justin Timmons made his way to AZ in 1986 and considers himself a true Arizonan. With just over 15 years of experience in the sales and marketing field in markets, such as human resources, information technology, and managed care industries, he believes that his attention to social issues, customer service and sales experience have sewn many seeds and has produced many fruits both fiscally and as an active humanitarian. In his own words, he considers himself a pre-Castro "Che" Guevara”. His successful health care customer service model and philosophy are rooted closely to his experience in identifying business limitations, listening to his client's business pains and bottlenecks and solutioning through IT resources. He prides himself in his focus on customer service and attention to detail and firmly believes there is a solution to every business limitation, and that is achieved by having product knowledge and the proper software vehicle. Justin graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and a minor in Biology from ASU. He is active in the local and state political forum, various charities Valley-wide, Junior Achievement, and Politics on the Rocks. Spirituality, travel, hiking, thinking outside the box and adventure are some of the passions that fuel Justin’s commitment to exploring life and making a difference.

A native of Des Moines Iowa, Mandi worked for various political campaigns while attending Drake University where she graduated with a major in Political Science. Immediately after graduating she became the Deputy Surrogate Scheduler in Iowa for John Kerry for President. Following the presidential, she was the Deputy Chief of Staff for the 2005 National Governors Association (NGA) Annual Meeting and primarily focused on planning the five social events for the Governors and Executives. Upon completion of the NGA she became the Special Events Coordinator for Governor Thomas J. Vilsack, Lt. Governor Sally J. Pederson and First Lady Christie Vilsack and ultimately transitioned to the Events Director for Tom Vilsack for President – current Secretary of Agriculture. After spending years in politics, she switched gears and let her love for football move her to Arizona to serve as the Director of Events for Super Bowl XLII, where she managed the preparation and execution of over 20 Super Bowl Host Committee events, Sanctioned events and NFL events primarily concentrated during the week of Super Bowl XLII and was the joint recipient of two industry ISES Awards for her Friday Night Sponsor Appreciation event. When Super Bowl ended she accepted the Destination Services Sales Manager position at The Phoenician where she worked closely with corporate clients to produce their off-property events to the 5-Diamond standard of The Phoenician. After spending just over a year in hospitality, she collaboratively produced the 3rd Annual Special Olympics Breakfast with Champions Gala and started her own company, AJW Event Production and Consulting, LLC. Her largest client and primary focus for the next two years is the Arizona Centennial where she serves as the Associate Executive Director of the 2012 Foundation and Deputy Director of the Commission. In addition, she is in the early planning stages of launching a second event based company and in the process of patenting a product she has great passion for and hopes to one day mass produce. Her relaxation time comes mainly during football season when all business takes a backseat to the game schedules of the four teams she follows closely.
