About The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Arizona:
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, of Arizona, headquartered in Phoenix, Ariz., is a donor-sponsored nonprofit organization dedicated to finding therapies and a cure for Cystic Fibrosis (CF), while helping to improve the lives of those living with CF. CF is the #1 life shortening disease of children and young adults in the U.S. Caused by a genetic defect, the disease forces the body to produce abnormally thick mucus, leading to chronic, life-threatening lung infections and impairs digestion. Thanks to the support of millions and the work of organizations like the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, researchers have discovered the basic genetic defect that causes CF. While today there exists no cure, an arsenal of remedies have been produced to help treat the disease, dramatically extending the life expectancy of people living with CF. The foundation’s “pipeline” is filled with more than 25 promising CF therapy candidates in clinical trials and six others in laboratory development. With help from its supporters, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation looks forward to the day research finds a cure.
About the Event:
Each year the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF), Arizona Chapter,
honors 20 single men and women across the Valley as AZ’s FINEST.
Those selected by a designated Judges Review Panel exemplify
leadership qualities, are active in volunteer roles, and have
excelled in the Arizona business community. AZ’s FINEST is designed
to spotlight Arizona’s most influential trendsetters, honoring their
professional and charitable accomplishments. In its nine years of
existence, AZ’s FINEST has honored the Valley’s most notable
figures, including state representatives, CEO’s, presidents and
managers of Arizona’s most influential companies and organizations.
The event has evolved into a “who’s who” of the Valley’s 25-45
year-old social-set. In addition, more than $500,000 has been raised
to fund the science to find a cure for cystic fibrosis.
The Judges Review Panel selects two Honorees as AZ’s FINEST 2008 Top
Man and Top Woman. The award is given to the Honorees who most
embody the spirit of AZ’s FINEST and for their exceptional
contributions to the community. The Honoree raising the most dollars
during his/her fundraising campaign will receive the coveted
Traveling Trophy Award. Each Honoree that raises Ten Thousand
Dollars ($10,000) or more will become a distinguished member of the
$10K+ Fundraising Club. In addition, each Honoree that raises
Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000) or more will become a
distinguished member of the $25K+ Fundraising Club.
